A Letter to Myself | Beginning My Photography Career

Dear Brinn,

You’re about to embark on an incredible journey. You are going to meet incredible people and see the beauty Utah has to offer. You will make new friends, try new things, and experiment with different photography styles.

However, you’re also going to have a lot of bumps in the road. You’ll struggle finding your photography style. There will be a vision in your mind that you want to create, but will struggle putting it into action. You’ll struggle balancing your time between your full time job, this new job, being a wife and daughter. You’ll have late nights, hours of editing, some re-editing. You’ll over schedule yourself and spend weekends sleeping for hours and hours. Naps become your best friend during this time.

You’ll also find yourself receiving a lot of gratitude from your clients. You’ll be highly praised for your work and effort put into your sessions. Don’t take them lightly. Those words will push you to continue and work harder to become better.

Be patient with yourself. You’ll encounter picky clients, computer issues and many more bumps in the road. These are bound to happen. Take it with a stride and push forward. You have so much more to come.

Don’t forget why you started this journey. Don’t forget who you’re doing it for. Don’t forget where the passion for photography started. Keep going and never give up. You have a bright future ahead of you.

Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.
